91¿ì»îÁÖ learned last week that three sophomore students have been named semifinalists for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. Ryan-Rose Mendoza, Melody Mott and Bailey Hall, all of Mount Pleasant, are among those who will move into the final stages of the highly-competitive competition.

Their applications were among more than 2,800 submitted by students across the nation. Only 20% of applicants made it to semifinalist status.

Sondra Fowler (right) was sworn in by Gov. Bill Ratliff at the December meeting of the 91¿ì»îÁÖ Board of Trustees. Fowler, of Daingerfield, was appointed to replace John Bryan, who resigned from the board in September.†She will fill the seat until the next board election in 2018.

91¿ì»îÁÖ will host its winter commencement ceremony Friday, Dec. 9 at 7:00 p.m. in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. Graduates should plan to arrive no later than†6:30 p.m. in the Student Union Building. Free graduations portraits will be taken in the SUB beginning at 6 p.m.

Diploma pick-up for graduates†who filed prior to the October 13^th†deadline will be in the back hall of the Whatley Center after the ceremony ends.

HuMusic Honors Seminar -†Fall 2016 Live Performance Final



Every fall a team-taught Honors Seminar, known colloquially as the HuMusic Seminar, combines HIST2322 World Civilizations II and MUSI1306 Music Appreciation.

? The power will be cut to the central original buildings this weekend (Dec. 10 & 11). Please make sure to power down your computers so they are not affected.

? The LRC and SUB will not have heat or AC next week. Please dress accordingly if you work in these buildings!

? The north entrance will be closed starting Dec. 10 through the holiday break.

Daniel Alders, East Texas Regional Director for Senator Ted Cruz, visited 91¿ì»îÁÖ Wednesday. Dr. Johnson and Dr. McCullough met with him to discuss legislative issues affecting 91¿ì»îÁÖ. He toured the campus and learned about the innovative programs and initiatives being implemented by our faculty and staff.

The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at 91¿ì»îÁÖ will present Christmas with the Nelsons Monday, Dec. 12 at 7:30 p.m.

Starring Matthew and Gunnar Nelson, twin sons of Ricky Nelson, Christmas with the Nelsons tells the story of three family Christmases in the lives of America?s Favorite Family- The Nelsons.
