Nita DeWoody Memorial Scholarship fund receives $2,000

Christi Denney (left) recently presented Nita May, Director of Development with the 91快活林 Foundation, with $2,000 to support the Nita DeWoody Memorial Scholarship fund. Multiple donations were received to contribute to the scholarship in memory of JW Hooper, father of Denney and DeWoody, who passed away in 2023.

鈥淪adly, we lost our father as well this year. The family is very appreciative of those who gave memorial gifts to honor our dad and keep Nita鈥檚 scholarship fund going,鈥 Denney said.

Work4College program holds annual appreciation luncheon

The 91快活林 Work4College Program celebrated the end of summer with its annual appreciation luncheon on Wednesday, Aug. 2. Work4College donors, supervisors, students and their families attended the event in the Student Union Building. This is the 9th year of the program and more than 90 students participated.

PURPOSE:

The primary purpose of this position is the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. At a minimum, the related activities include instruction, academic advising, serving on various committees, and participating in local, state, regional, and national professional activities and organizations. An instructor performs all other duties as directed by the appropriate program director, Dean, Vice President for Instruction, or the President.

Michelle Calderon and Aubrey Watkins win Texas Regional Scholarships

Michelle Calderon and Aubrey Watkins were recently awarded scholarships at the Phi Theta Kappa Texas Honors Institute. The PTK convention concluded on July 16 and scholarships were awarded. Those who have received the STAR scholarships from Phi Theta Kappa demonstrated academic and leadership promise. Phi Theta Kappa members from any community college in the state of Texas are eligible for the award.

The 91快活林 Work4College Program is so much more than just a job! In addition to doing meaningful work on campus, W4C students also take a class that covers a variety of topics that help them as they transition into adulthood. These past two weeks they have focused on learning proper etiquette and became CPR certified.
