Robert Arellano Foundation gives $2,000 for scholarships

Did you know that 91¿ì»îÁÖ offers opportunities for non-ag majors to get their hands in the dirt? The 91¿ì»îÁÖ Ag Department offers three courses that students can take to satisfy core curriculum requirements for their degree, in addition to teaching important agricultural life skills.

Students in some majors can take Agronomy (AGRI 1307), the study of pastures and crops, Horticulture (AGRI 1315), the study of plants/gardening, or Animal Science (AGRI 1319), the study of farm animals to satisfy the core science requirement.

Two 91¿ì»îÁÖ graduates named 2017 Terry Scholars

Two 91¿ì»îÁÖ graduates, Ryan-Rose Mendoza and Melody Mott, were named 2017 Terry Scholars and received the prestigious Terry Transfer Scholarship. Selection is based on academic achievement, demonstrated leadership, and financial need. Recipients also must have applied and been accepted to a Terry Affiliated University within the state of Texas.

The Terry Scholarship Program was born of Howard and Nancy Terry?s desire to help young people help themselves. The Terrys believed, in the long term, that a university ? like the state it represents ?

91¿ì»îÁÖ holds Firefighter Academy graduation

91¿ì»îÁÖ recently held its 15th Firefighter Academy Graduation on Monday, July 3. Home Free to kick off Whatley Center season of entertainment

The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at 91¿ì»îÁÖ is gearing up for its 26th year as the entertainment hub of the area. The exciting lineup of events will kick off October 14 with a concert by the popular a cappella country music group Home Free on October 14.

?I am thrilled about the quality of shows we are offering for the 2017-2018 season. It is a nice mixture of genres that really offers something for everyone,? Carolyn Franks, Director of the Whatley Center, said.

College Store closed June 29-30

The College Store & Copy Center will be closed for Inventory, June 29-30, 2017.† The Store will open Monday, July 3rd†as normal.

Please plan ahead and purchase any necessary items before these dates (ex. scantrons, pencils, pens etc.?)

As a reminder, the Copy Center will also be closed ? if you will have print jobs needed during this time, please get those to the store as soon as possible.

The Store will not be metering mail June 29-30th.

Two Presidential Scholars win Eckman Awards

Two 91¿ì»îÁÖ Presidential Scholars recently won $100 for their performance in challenging honors seminars. Presley McClendon, who graduated this past May, was the sophomore who took all three honors seminars at 91¿ì»îÁÖ, and ended with the highest GPA.† Chesney Davis won his award as an honors freshman, ranking number one in the Stat-Psych Honors Seminar taught this past spring by Dr. Karyn Skaar and Dr. Paula Wilhite.
