Adult Education accepting new GED, ESL students

The Adult Education Department at 91快活林 is accepting new鈥燼nd returning鈥爏tudents for its GED (General Educational Development) and ESL (English as a Second Language) programs. Those interested in participating in either of these free educational programs鈥爏hould call to make an appointment for registration鈥燼nd/or testing.鈥燱hile classes are offered in various convenient locations around the area, all registration will be held at the Community Resource Center (formerly MPISD Administration Building) at鈥105鈥燦. Riddle Street in Mount Pleasant.

Representative Gary VanDeaver visits Communities In Schools

Tuesday night Communities In Schools (CIS) of Northeast Texas hosted Texas State Representative Dr. Gary VanDeaver. He toured the program?s Believes In Dreams Angel Store in Mount Vernon and met with several CIS volunteers and community鈥爉embers. He took a special interest in how CIS helps area at-risk high school seniors figure out an after-graduation plan through the CAPPED program. 91快活林 closed Dec. 25 - Jan. 5 for winter break

91快活林 offices will be closed from December 25 to January 5 for winter break. We will resume regular business hours Monday, Jan. 8. Spring classes begin Tuesday, Jan. 16.

Students may still apply for admission, register online (if eligible), pay tuition, check financial aid status and more on the during the closure.

Five 91快活林 students named Jack Kent Cooke Foundation scholarship semi-finalists

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation recently named five students at 91快活林 as semi-finalists for their highly competitive and elite Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. Alicia Cantrell, Brenda Godoy, Rachel Jordan, Adriana Rodriquez and Cassidy Watkins were included in the list.

Their applications were among more than 2,800 submitted by students across the nation. Only 20 percent of applicants made it to semifinalist status.

Board appoints Ron Clinton as President of 91快活林

The 91快活林 Board of Trustees met Monday for its regular December meeting. The board unanimously voted to appoint Dr. Ron Clinton as president of the college and approved a鈥爁our-year鈥燾ontract for the position.

Clinton was named the sole finalist for president at a special-called meeting November 15. Per state law, the board was required to post notice of hiring a president for 21 days before officially taking action to complete the appointment.
