Andrew Daniel, Mark Miller to perform concert at the Whatley Center
Guitarist Andrew Daniel and violinist Mark Miller will perform†Songs and Dances of the Americas†at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 15 in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts.†The program includes†History of the Tango†by Piazzolla and†Mountain Songs†by Robert Beaser.
Brenda Godoy wins two top national PTK scholarships
Brenda Godoy, a student at 91¿ì»îÁÖ, has received two of the nation?s top scholarships recognizing outstanding academic achievement among college students. Godoy is one of 20 students to be named to the All?USA Academic Team and will receive a $5,000 scholarship. The All?USA program is widely recognized as the most prestigious academic honor for students attending associate degree-granting institutions.
Honors Northeast attends Webb Society meeting in San Marcos
91¿ì»îÁÖ was well represented at the recent meeting of the Texas Webb Society in San Marcos. Honors Northeast Scholars won two of the four freshman-sophomore division awards for scholarship.†Jazmin Garcia of Mount Pleasant placed third in the state, and won $150 for her essay on Texas First Lady, Mildred Moody.†Rhylie Anderson?s essay placed fourth.†She received $75 for her essay on the ?Politics of Futility,?
Alpha Mu Chi to host murder mystery dinner
Alpha Mu Chi, the 91¿ì»îÁÖ Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, will host a murder mystery dinner on Saturday, April 14 at 6:30 p.m. Funds raised help the chapter and its members attend conferences, present workshops, and engage in activities which allow it to maintain its Five Star status. Tickets may be purchased online at or from any chapter officer.

Eagle newspaper staff wins 47 awards at Texas Intercollegiate Press Association conference
The 91¿ì»îÁÖ Eagle newspaper staff recently attended the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association (TIPA) conference at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Dallas. Students attended sessions on various journalism topics, participated in live contest events and attended the annual TIPA awards banquet.
91¿ì»îÁÖ won Overall Excellence Division 6 in both the newspaper and literary magazine categories. In total, the students won 47 awards, including several first-place awards for photography, writing and design.
