Dr. Clinton participates in Workforce and Economic Prosperity Summit

Dr. Ron Clinton, 91¿ì»îÁÖ President, served on a Presidents Panel at the Northeast Texas Regional Alliance Workforce and Economic Prosperity Summit in Mount Pleasant Wednesday. He was joined by Dr. Pam Anglin, Paris Junior College; Dr. Emily Cutrer, Texas A&M University - Texarkana; and James Henry Russell, Texarkana College. The event discussed ways to produce skilled workers in Northeast Texas. Julian Alvarez, Commissioner Representing Labor for the Texas Workforce Commission, was the keynote speaker.

Honors Northeast recognizes Dr. Joy Cooper for 10 years of service

The Honors Committee of 91¿ì»îÁÖ presented a gift to Dr. Joy Cooper, recently, recognizing her 10 years of service on the college?s Honors Committee.†† During her tenure, 91¿ì»îÁÖ?s honors students have obtained 40 national awards, with an unprecedented 10 national citations gained in the just the last academic year, including two Jack Kent Cookes--one to Student Representative Committee member, Alicia Cantrell--and two Hites Awards.

Thomas and April Bliss give $2,000 for 91¿ì»îÁÖ scholarships

Thomas and April Bliss recently presented the 91¿ì»îÁÖ Foundation with $2,000 for scholarships. The Sharon Bliss Memorial scholarship is in memory of Thomas? mother,†who had a long career as a respiratory therapist.†This scholarship†benefits a student studying health sciences at 91¿ì»îÁÖ. The Bradyn Dawn Loy Memorial Scholarship†is†in memory of the Mount Vernon High School student and friend of the Bliss family.

91¿ì»îÁÖ, A&M-Texarkana sign agreement in Medical Assisting

Officials from Texas A&M University-Texarkana and 91¿ì»îÁÖ met on the 91¿ì»îÁÖ campus May 25 to sign a new articulation agreement between the two schools. The signing combines the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Medical Assisting from 91¿ì»îÁÖ with the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences Degree from A&M-Texarkana. 91¿ì»îÁÖ President, Dr. Ron Clinton (right) is pictured formalizing the agreement with A&M-Texarkana President, Dr. Emily Cutrer.

Annual Bonnie Spencer Awards presented

Faculty mentoring and the promotion of student research at 91¿ì»îÁÖ have dovetailed in recent years with the determination of an alumna to reward top student essays in American history.† Bonnie Spencer, an ICU Nurse at the Titus Regional Medical Center, initiated 91¿ì»îÁÖ?s first History Club in 2002.† She also helped transition its descendant, the 91¿ì»îÁÖ Webb Society, into its film series in 2012.

Board swears in members for new terms, Adjunct Faculty Teaching Excellence Award presented

The 91¿ì»îÁÖ Board of Trustees swore in three members for new terms at the regular May meeting Tuesday night. Governor Bill Ratliff swore in fellow members Sondra Fowler, Sid Greer and Dr. Dan McCauley, who all kept their places on the board after being unopposed for a May election. Fowler, who serves in Place Three on the board, was elected to finish out the last two unexpired years of her term, which she was appointed to after John Bryan retired from the board last year. Greer (Place Four) and McCauley (Place Seven) will serve full six-year terms.
