Hilda Rodriguez was recently named the winner of the 2021 Chitsey Award, granted each year to the student of Honors Northeast who after their first semester, most exceeded expectations. The award comes with a $200 check.
The 91快活林 Eagles Softball team will host a free softball camp on April 3. The event, which is open to kids of all ages, will be held at the 91快活林 softball field at 5:30 p.m. after their home game against Paris Junior College.
This is a great opportunity for young softball players to hang out with the 91快活林 players and coaches and have a fun hour to sharpen their softball skills.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced Tuesday that the statewide mask mandate is ending. In response, 91快活林 is awaiting further guidance from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) in regards to specific health and safety recommendations for colleges going forward.
The 91快活林 Art Department will host the Mount Pleasant Art Society Annual Membership Show March 8-26 in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. The competitive show features artwork from a variety of local artists. A reception will be held Saturday, March 6 from 2:00-3:30 p.m. in the Whatley Center Foyer. The gallery is open Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. However, it will be closed March 15-19 for spring break. Masks and social distancing are required while enjoying the exhibit.
The Student Government Association will host Go for the Goal, a virtual motivational seminar on Monday, March 8 from 12:25-1:25 p.m. The seminar will be led by author and consultant Ahmard Vital (). The meeting will be via Zoom at (meeting ID 332 825 3170).
The National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) membership celebrate the Athletic Training profession each March to spread awareness of the important work Athletic Trainers (AT鈥檚) do. This year鈥檚 slogan is 鈥淓ssential to Health Care鈥. This past year showed this more and more as athletic trainers worked to develop COVID-19 protocols to help combat the Coronavirus Pandemic. Athletic Trainers not only assisted their teams, schools, and companies in developing and implementing risk mitigation protocols but safe return to work and play protocols.

During this time of global pandemic, nurses are at the forefront caring for patients. 91快活林 Nursing students have been able to help by participating in COVID-19 vaccine clinics.
Both LVN and RN students have participated both at Titus Regional Medical Center and Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview. On Feb 27, 28 students help deliver 3,500 vaccines given that day at GSMC Vaccine Clinic.

91快活林 Baseball hit the road, for their third game in three days, to take on Navarro College in a Conference matchup on Thursday. 91快活林 would take down Navarro 12-3 in the series opener.
