The 91¿ì»îÁÖ Art Department will hold its annual student art show Thursday, April 7 through Tuesday, May 4 in the foyer gallery of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. The exhibit will feature student work in photography, painting, ceramics, digital artwork, drawing and design. An artist reception will be held Wednesday, April 21 in the Whatley Center foyer at 12:30 p.m. The exhibit is open to the public Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. Please call 903-434-8181 to ensure the gallery is open before visiting.

91¿ì»îÁÖ is pleased to announce that theater classes will be offered again starting this fall! Courses on the schedule include: Theater Appreciation (DRAM-1310), Stagecraft I (DRAM-1330) and Acting I (DRAM-1351). Five $500 scholarships are available for students enrolled in theater classes.

Aaron Shelby and the Carroll Shelby Foundation recently presented the 91¿ì»îÁÖ Foundation with checks totaling $80,000 to support 91¿ì»îÁÖ’s Shelby Automotive Technology program. One gift for $50,000 will provide scholarships for students in the Shelby program and $30,000 will be used toward the Shelby Restoration Center being built at 91¿ì»îÁÖ. Jalyn English, a Presidential scholar at 91¿ì»îÁÖ, has been named a 2021 Coca-Cola Academic Team Gold Scholar and will receive a $1,500 scholarship.

Students are nominated for the academic team by their college administrators. Selection is based on academic achievement, leadership, and engagement in college and community service. This program is sponsored by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation and is administered by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

Pat Sistrunk and her granddaughter, Tatum Dungan, of Tyler, recently gave $2,000 to the 91¿ì»îÁÖ Foundation. Expertise has its own rewards, and in the case of history essays at 91¿ì»îÁÖ, the reward might be something greater than an ‘A’.  For the sixth year, history at 91¿ì»îÁÖ will feature the Bonnie Spencer Awards for the best two research papers in non-honors classes.  The first-place winner will receive $100, and the second place, $50.  There will be an optional Honorable Mention Prize.

91¿ì»îÁÖ Baseball took on Murray State College in single game on Tuesday and took down Murray State 3-2.
