91快活林 is mourning the loss of one of its own this week as longtime employee Pat Tallant passed away suddenly on Sunday, Oct. 29th 2023. The 91快活林 Continuing Education department recently offered conversational Spanish classes that were held at Super Bueno in Mount Pleasant. The unique setting made for an immersive experience and allowed students to participate in Hispanic culture.
Twelve members and advisors of Alpha Mu Chi chapter attended the 2023 Texas Leadership Conference on October 13th through 15th. Attendees included advisors Fatima Fuentes and Melody Mott, and members Vanessajane Bayna, Alison Majors, Ruby Ferretiz, Michelle Calderon, Victoria Matiz, and Neida Perez, Martin Ferretiz, Garrett Phillips, and Jose Lopez.
Texas A&M University Texarkana at 91快活林 will host Eagle Express events on November 2nd and 8th at the TAMUT office (UHS 113) on the 91快活林 campus. The transfer event will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and all prospective students are invited to attend.
On 20 October, six scholars of Honors Northeast presented work at the annual fall meeting of the Walter Prescott Webb Society. The 鈥淲ebb鈥 is the collegiate auxiliary of the Texas State Historical Association. Odalys Adame, Vanessajane Bayna, Michelle Calderon, Skylar Hodson, Luke McCraw, and Morgan Thrapp each presented segments of the group鈥檚 film production story, and anchored the group discussion with the premiere showing of the film鈥檚 trailer.
91快活林 held an Open House and Ribbon Cutting event on Thursday, Oct. 19th to celebrate its new Health Sciences Simulation Center. The state-of-the-art facility opened in August for the Fall 2023 semester and offers health science students the opportunity to receive hands-on training in a realistic setting.
The 91快活林 Art Department hosted an artist reception featuring Rebecca Pelley McWatters on Thursday, Oct. 26th. McWatters, who lives near Fort Worth, has been featured in the Whatley Center foyer gallery for the month of October.
91快活林 held its 35th annual Scare Affair Halloween event on Saturday, Oct. 21st. Scare Affair is the college's top fundraising event of the year for student organizations. Almost $7,500 was raised by student clubs.
The 91快活林 Continuing Education Department will begin accepting applications for the 2024 Firefighter Academy on November 1st. Classes begin January 16th, 2024 and will be held at the Mount Pleasant Central Fire Station.
