Men's soccer headed to NJCAA National Tournament

This past Friday the men’s team traveled to take on LSUE in the South District Final game. The Eagles were able to come out with the 3-1 win and punch their ticket to the NJCAA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT!! This is the first time since 2014 that the men’s soccer team has made it to Nationals. The team will be traveling to Daytona, Florida to participate in the 2018 NJCAA Division 1 Soccer National Tournament taking place November 12th-17th. Thank you to everyone for the continued support of the team on and off the field.

91¿ì»îÁÖ Art Department hosts annual quilting exhibit

Quilts created by local quilters will hang in the Whatley Center foyer in what is now an annual tradition for the 91¿ì»îÁÖ art department.  For the third consecutive year, quilters bring their treasured art to share with the community. The exhibit runs from Wednesday, Nov. 7 through Monday, Nov. 26. A reception is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 15 at 12:30 p.m. in the Whatley Center foyer, and refreshments will be served. The reception is free and open to the public.

SGA, Social Work Club announce campus food pantry, host food drive

The Office of Student Activities, Student Government Association, Social Work Club and The Wesley Fellowship Center are partnering together to host a campus-wide food drive to support The Eagle Pantry. The food drive will be October 29-December 6, 2018.

The Eagle Pantry is a new resource on campus that educates, feeds, and comforts students who need a helping hand during rough times. The Eagle Pantry will be open on the third Thursday of every month from 12:30 – 2:00pm, located at The Wesley Fellowship Center.

The grand opening will be on December 6, 2018.

Culinary Arts dinner tickets now on sale

The 91¿ì»îÁÖ Culinary Arts Program will host a special Fall Dinner on Nov. 15th.  The dinner will be held at the 91¿ì»îÁÖ Culinary School in historic downtown Pittsburg and is open to the public. Tickets are on sale NOW! Due to to high demand at previous events, the Culinary Arts Program has moved to a ticketed event rather than first-come-first-served. Tickets can be obtained only at the 91¿ì»îÁÖ Hanson-Sewell Center at 237 College Street in Pittsburg, cash and checks are accepted for payment.

Foundation names Al and Sue Havenstrite Distinguished Benefactors

The 91¿ì»îÁÖ Foundation presented Al and Sue Havenstrite with the Distinguished Benefactor Award during the annual Scholarship Brunch on Friday, Nov. 2. 

The Havenstrites began supporting 91¿ì»îÁÖ shortly after retiring to the area in 1996. Having raised their family and spent their careers in Arlington, the couple decided to move back to Sue’s hometown of Mount Pleasant to enjoy a slower pace away from the city. 

Cypress Bank provides honors student with laptop

For the eleventh straight year since 2008, Cypress Bank has presented a high-end MacBook laptop for the use of 91¿ì»îÁÖ honors students.  This year’s recipient is Miguel Paco.  He is a recent graduate of Mount Pleasant High School and Presidential Scholar at 91¿ì»îÁÖ, who has been active in Honors and Alpha Mu Chi activities.  Paco majors in physics.

Student survey winners announced

All students enrolled at 91¿ì»îÁÖ were invited to complete a national survey (The Student Financial Wellness Survey) to document the financial well-being of our students and how it impacts their ability to successfully achieve their college goals.  Three students who completed the survey were randomly selected to receive a $100 gift card to the 91¿ì»îÁÖ College Store.  The students are Hannah Fouche (right) and Michelle Solo (center), and Janet Johnson (not pictured).
