Eagles split matchup with Grayson County

The Eagles split another double-header Wednesday as they took on Grayson County College in Dennison.

After suffering an 8-0 loss in the opening game of the day, the Eagles bounced back with a 3-2 victory in the second contest.

Christina Martin helped lead 91¿ì»îÁÖ to victory in the second game as she was 2-3 at the plate while Katie Holcomb and Hannah Holovach both had a hit and each scored a run in the win.

Eagles split with visiting North Central Lions

The Eagles softball team used a resilient effort to pick up its first win of the season Friday afternoon, bouncing back from a 10-1 loss in first game of a double-header to earn a 4-3 victory over visiting North Central Texas College.

Victory did not come easy, though, as the Eagles had to hold off a late charge from the Lady Lions to pick up the win. 91¿ì»îÁÖ led 4-0 heading into the seventh inning only to see the Lady Lions score three runs to cut the deficit to a single run.

This week 91¿ì»îÁÖ President Brad Johnson announced the college would begin a search for a new Director of Agriculture. †Dr. Charlie Apter, the present director, will step aside immediately and a national search for his successor has already begun.

?This is not a new direction, but a leadership change intended to bring an intensified pace of development,? Johnson said.

?Enrollment is a factor but only one of several fundamental markers I considered in making this difficult decision.

PTK advisor honored at 91¿ì»îÁÖ Board meeting

91¿ì»îÁÖ honored Dr. Melissa Weinbrenner, faculty advisor to 91¿ì»îÁÖ Phi Theta Kappa chapter, at the January 2012 Board of Trustees Meeting Tuesday.†Weinbrenner has been chosen to serve as a Phi Theta Kappa 2012 Faculty Scholar. Only 25 instructors were chosen from among nearly 3,000 chapter advisors to receive this honor. The 91¿ì»îÁÖ spring softball season gets underway this weekend as the Eagles play at Cisco College Friday before playing at Weatherford Saturday.
91¿ì»îÁÖ?s softball team is looking to build on last season?s 25-33 record, a season that saw the Eagles narrowly miss making it to the regional tournament.
Head coach Jay Terry says that he believes that he has the squad to put together a strong season this spring.†
