Theatre Northeast to perform Killer Halloween

Theatre Northeast, the student theatre group of 91快活林, will present the play Killer Halloween by Dennis SneeOctober 26-29 at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. The thriller/comedy will provide the right amount of scares and laughs for the season.

Set on Halloween in the small Midwestern town of Shudderville, where for on each of the preceding seven Halloweens, one or more Shudderville teenagers has been stabbed, slashed, bludgeoned, strangled, dismembered, disemboweled or otherwise killed in a really icky way.

Mollie Jones watercolor exhibit on display at 91快活林

The 91快活林鈥燗rt鈥燚epartment will host its second art exhibit鈥爋f the 2017-2018 school year October 2- 27 in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing鈥燗rts. The show, ?Crystal & Glass?, will feature watercolors by鈥燼rtist Mollie Jones.鈥燗 reception with the鈥燼rtist will be held Thursday, October 5 at 12:30 p.m. in the Whatley Center foyer.

Chuck Barkow makes memorial gift to Whatley Campaign

Chuck Barkow recently gave $1,000 to sponsor two chairs in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at 91快活林. The seats are dedicated in memory of Jill Barkow and Holly Hardman. Barkow (second from left), is pictured presenting the gift to Nita May, 91快活林 Director of Development (left), Carolyn Franks, Director of the Whatley Center, and Dr. Jonathan McCullough, 91快活林 Vice President for Advancement. Theater seats are available for sponsorship at $500 each.

Home Free to kick off Whatley Center season of entertainment

The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at 91快活林 is gearing up for its 26th year as the entertainment hub of the area. The exciting lineup of events will kick off October 14 with a concert by the popular a cappella country music group Home Free on October 14.

?I am thrilled about the quality of shows we are offering for the 2017-2018 season. It is a nice mixture of genres that really offers something for everyone,? Carolyn Franks, Director of the Whatley Center, said.

Theatre Northeast to perform April 27-30

Theatre Northeast, the student theatre group of 91快活林, will present variety of monologues, scenes, songs, dramatic readings and a short play on-stage in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts April 27-30. The Thursday through Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday matinee is at 2:05 p.m.

?We're trying something a little different for our last show of the school year.鈥 I'm excited for our audience to see the scope of talent Northeast students have,? Martin Holden, Director of Theatre Northeast, said.

91快活林 to host annual student art show

The 91快活林 Art Department will present its Annual Student Art Show April 12-27 in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. A reception will be held Wednesday, April 19 at 2 p.m. in the Whatley Foyer. The show will feature student work in a variety of media including painting, drawing, photography, ceramics and more. The gallery is open Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. Please call 903-434-8181 to ensure that the gallery is open before you come to visit. Whatley Center to host Mount Vernon Music April 10

The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at 91快活林 will host a concert by Mount Vernon Music Monday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Whatley foyer.鈥 The string quintet performance will feature Mark Miller and Yuko Mansell on violin, Ute Miller and Sarah Kienle on viola and Zachary Mansell on cello.

Program selections will include Quintet in C major K. 515 by Mozart and Quintet in G major op.
