Description of Job Duties:

The Program Director of the Nursing Program is directly responsible and accountable for the overall administration, planning, implementation, and evaluation of all aspects of the nursing education program, ensuring the fulfillment of educational goals and objectives, and program compliance. The Director is authorized as the program contact person for the Texas Board of Nursing and represents 91�� and its program of nursing. These responsibilities require leadership in both academic and workforce areas and include meeting student retention goals; directing and participating in educational planning; program organization; staffing, training and supervision of both full-time and part-time faculty; evaluating program faculty and student performance; motivating and advising students; developing and maintaining the program budget and generating program reports as needed. The individual that serves as a Director of the Nursing Program is a faculty member who serves as a liaison with the administration of the College, while also performing administrative functions.

Experience and Other Qualifications Required:

The Nursing Program Director must have a current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas.
A PhD or DNP is preferred but a Master’s Degree in Nursing is accepted.
The individual must also have experience in college-level teaching, preferably in a community college, be an excellent communicator, have superior interpersonal skills, be an innovative, problem-solving thinker, and have demonstrated potential for leadership.

The EMS Program Director must be an excellent thinker, planner, and organizer. This position calls for a person who can develop, build, and maintain strong relations, provide leadership for the faculty in the Emergency Medical Program, participate as a member of the college's instructional leadership team, and represent the college in the community. The candidate must possess knowledge of budget planning/management, program evaluation, and accreditation processes, including the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and the program-specific accreditation agency CAAHEP. The EMS program director must be able to work independently, exercise discretion and sound judgment in decision making, respond to critical matters effectively, and represent the college professionally. This person must act as a role model for students and the community through excellence in emergency medical services practice and must be student-oriented and understand student learning styles. The candidate must be knowledgeable in all aspects of emergency medical services practice and instruction. The EMS program director is expected to take the initiative to plan, implement, and continuously improve emergency medical services programs and services to support the mission and purposes of the college. The candidate must be committed to a collaborative work environment and high-quality service to constituents extensive knowledge of curriculum development, emergency medical education, and related state/federal legislation and initiatives.

Job Duties:

Teach an average of 15 weekly contact hours throughout the year
Coordinate paramedic program clinical and train all clinical preceptors
Maintain program accreditation through CAAHEP
Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for the position
Provide guidance and leadership in the assessment of program and student teaming outcomes within the program
Promote quality in learning and instruction by using learning-centered principles in leadership, management, scheduling, and hiring
Lead and coordinate the development of learning-centered scheduling for instruction
Participate in the development and administration of the EMS budget; forecast and recommend funds needed for staffing, equipment, and supplies; monitor and recommend approval of expenditures
Coordinate the recruitment, selection, contracting, and evaluation of full and part-time instructors within the program
Develop and provide assistance in the development, sequencing, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and educational materials used in the program
Actively support innovation, distance learning, student-centered learning strategies, and the use of technology within the learning environment
Demonstrate high-level professionalism in developing and/or implementing long- and short-range plans in accordance with the mission and goals of 91��
Participate in college, advisory, and program/instruction committees, campus activities, and provide representation of the college in the community
Develop strong partnerships with appropriate community stakeholders in support of new program development and college improvement
Develop strong partnerships with state and national agencies that support emergency services education
Continue professional development for the improvement of self and the department to meet the needs of the college and the program
Participate in or support the mentoring process, the 91�� Foundation, and grant identification, preparation, implementation, and evaluation
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in related field required

The emergency medical services (EMS) program director is a full-time, 12-month position located primarily on the main 91�� campus in Mount Pleasant, Texas. The EMS program director provides academic leadership to students and instructors in the EMS and paramedic training programs. This individual maintains a climate of open communication, collegiality, and teamwork within the EMS programs and actively supports the professional growth and development of the EMS instructors. The EMS program director ensures the availability of quality learning opportunities for students and is the first line of support for student complaints and grievances. The EMS program director is responsible for teaching, curriculum development, instructor assignment, course scheduling, program review, student learning outcomes assessment, student advising and scheduling, professional development, institutional service, community service, and community relations. In addition to instructional responsibilities, the EMS program director has supervisory and administrative authority over the full-time and adjunct instructors in the EMS programs.

Description of Job Duties:

The Dean of Health Science provides college-wide leadership for credit and non-credit education in health science. The position is responsible for marketing, management, and assisting in curriculum design of educational programs that serve employers' and employees' needs. The dean works closely with health industry partners to determine program development needs, design innovative curricula that enhance employees' skills and knowledge and comply with professional accreditation requirements, recruit students and faculty, and manage the operational logistics of major grants and contracts. This position serves as a liaison with outside agencies, community organizations, and other constituencies within the college.

The Dean of Health Sciences oversees various instructional personnel essential to the department's success. The responsibilities encompass two administrative assistants, a student advisor, and eight program directors. These personnel include the administrative assistant to the dean, the health sciences student advisor, the directors of nursing, emergency medical services, the physical therapist assistant, the simulation center, the medical assisting program, laboratory technology, funeral services, and human performance. The dean must foster a collaborative and innovative environment, empowering the team to excel in their roles and contribute significantly to advancing health science education and practice.

91�� offers the following health science degrees and certificates: two associate of science degrees in Pre-BSN and human performance. The college also offers ten associate of applied science degrees, including emergency medical services, funeral services, health sciences, healthcare management, medical assistant, medical lab technician, nursing, nursing transition to professional nursing, and physical therapist assistant. The college offers nine certificates: two in emergency medical services, two in funeral services, one in nursing, one in patient care technology, and two certificates (phlebotomy and pharmacy technician) in continuing education.
