91快活林 students win six awards at the Red River Honors Symposium

Twelve students from 91快活林 competed at the Second Annual Red River Honors Symposium, hosted by Texas A&M University-Texarkana on Friday May 3. Students from colleges throughout the Red River area, including northeast Texas and into Oklahoma, presented posters showcasing their research from the past year. Students competed in five categories: Social Sciences, Humanities, Health Sciences, STEM, and Service Projects.  Six 91快活林 students won awards and cash prizes.

First place winners include Skylar Hodson, for 鈥淭he Third Coast: Texas鈥 Rise and Fall in the Film Industry鈥 (Humanities), Lilliana Torreblanca, for 鈥淪afety Upgrade Urgently Needed at 91快活林: Reasons Why We Need a Crosswalk鈥 (Service), and Mary-Faith Wilson, for 鈥淔orgotten Melodies: How Music Affects Alzheimer鈥檚鈥 (Health Sciences).

Second place winners include George Burrows, for 鈥淔ish Leeches of Arkansas鈥 (STEM), Curtis Johnson, for 鈥淲illingness to Vaccinate for Herd Immunity on Consideration of those who are High Responsibility versus Low Responsibility鈥 (Social Sciences), and Luke McCraw for 鈥淭esting Grayscale鈥檚 Effect on College Students鈥 Smartphone Use鈥 (Humanities).

Six community judges evaluated the student鈥檚 work. An awards luncheon followed the symposium.
