The new 91快活林 Professional Driving Academy recently celebrated the graduation of its first class of students. Antarius Morton and Marcus Allen completed the program and were awarded their certificates on October 1.
The four-week Professional Driving Academy includes 160 hours of training, DOT physical, drug screen, MVR and CDL permit. Students spend 50 hours in the classroom and 110 hours on the road driving. Instruction is provided by Michael Jones, who has more than 30 years of experience in truck driving.
鈥淲hile CDL training is not new to 91快活林, we are excited to again be teaching the Professional Driving Academy right here on the 91快活林 campus,鈥 Jimmy Smith, 91快活林 Workforce Developer, said. 鈥淭ransportation jobs are in high demand and our goal is to provide an affordable, local option for folks looking to get their CDL and to increase the number of qualified candidates to help employers fill vacant positions.鈥
Classes are held monthly, so students never have to wait too long to get started. The cost is $4,191 and limited financial aid may be available.
