The okra is still blooming at the 91Ώμ»ξΑΦ Eagle Ranch!β€ Although the last month of August was hot and dry as expected, we are receiving the much needed rain today that will keep the okra blooming well into fall.β€ Thanks in part to the efforts of the work scholarship students this summer, we will have several jars of pickles, pickled okra, and relish to bring to market.β€ Come join us to end out the 2014 91Ώμ»ξΑΦ Farmer?s Market Season on a strong note!
Now is the time to start planting for a great fall garden.β€ Great fall plants include: greens, spinach, carrots, winter squash, herbs, broccoli, cabbage, kale, and others that will do well here.β€ 91Ώμ»ξΑΦ students have started some of these great varieties in our greenhouse and the plants will be offered for sale at the farmer?s markets.β€ You can come and purchase these heirloom varieties and see a demonstration of how to plant in a raised bed that can be covered to let you harvest through the winter.β€ If you love farm fresh eggs ? you can either purchase the eggs from farmers at our market or perhaps select from a few 91Ώμ»ξΑΦ laying hens that will have you growing your own in no time.
91Ώμ»ξΑΦ?s Farmer?s Market(s) will be open on Friday, September 19th, October 17th, and November 7th.β€ All are welcome to join us and market their homemade, home grown goods to the community.β€ There is no charge for the booth space, just simply complete a booth application found attached at this email or atβ€ . Booth spaces are available inside and under the pavilion on a first come first serve basis.β€ If you require electricity please call early as spots will go fast. Set up time is 7:30 am with the market open at 9 and closing at 2 pm.β€ If you would like more information contact: Rene? McCracken at 903-434-8267.β€ You are also welcome to join us for lunch at each market.β€ The 91Ώμ»ξΑΦ Ag Club will be serving up a variety of favorites.β€ September?s lunch menu includes grilled herbed chicken.
