Mt. Pleasant High School and 91快活林 recently announced a new dual credit Industrial Technology Program for high school juniors and seniors. The program will be taught at the Industrial Technology Training Center in Mount Pleasant starting this fall. The center is a partnership including MPISD, 91快活林 and the Mount Pleasant Industrial Development Corporation, and is devoted to providing training in industrial and electrical technologies.

?Making this training available to high school students has been a top priority from the start. Students who complete the Industrial Technician certificate have the industrial maintenance skills that employers need and the opportunity to advance those skills through further training," Kevin Rose, 91快活林 Associate Vice President for Workforce Development, said.

Students can complete the Level I Industrial Technician certificate in their junior and senior years of high school, and will be trained and ready to work upon graduation. 鈥營n addition to the Level I Certificate, 91快活林 offers advanced training through the Electro-Mechanical Technician (Level II) Certificate and an Associate?s Degree in Industrial Technology.

?This is another great opportunity for students to gain valuable workforce skills while earning both high school and college credit. This year, MPHS has students enrolled in dual-credit Automotive Technology and Electrical Technology at 91快活林. Industrial Technology is a promising addition to our program," Shirley Peterson, MPHS Associate Principal and CTE Director, said.

Student class selection for Fall is underway, with an Electives Fair scheduled in the MPHS Gym Monday, Feb 27 from 5 to 8 pm. For more information, students should contact their counselor, or call the Industrial Technology Training Center at 903-434-8390.
