Incoming Scholar of Honors Northeast to play pipe organ recital

On Sunday, 7 August at 3 p.m., Samuel Anderson Pollan will feature works of Johann Sebastian Bach, and other classics of the literature for pipe organ at the First United Methodist Church of Pittsburg. The church is located at 109 College Street. The public is invited, and admission is free. Refreshments will be served after the recital.
Pollan graduated this past spring from Daingerfield High School. He was a trumpet section leader of the band, a member of the National Honor Society, and of the Student Council.

She is already studying for the fall semester. Her professor has approved her upcoming topic in Texas history. This Friday, she plans to attend a dinner for those students in Honors Northeastinterested in being a part of this year鈥檚 film on Texas Suffragette, Minnie Fisher Cunningham.

Israel Perez first to receive Russell-Mowery Honors Scholarship

Israel Perez, a Presidential-Scholar sophomore of Honors Northeast, has become the first winner of the Russell-Mowery Perpetual Honors Scholarship. This annual $500 award goes to an honors student who has made significant contributions to Northeast Texas culture and life.
Rhylie Anderson presents at Western Historical Association
Rhylie Anderson participated in the 58th Annual Western Historical Association held at the Hyatt Regency in San Antonio, October 17-20. The conference theme was 鈥淩e-Imaging Race and Ethnicity in the West.鈥
While there, Rhylie presented a poster on her work on African-American leaders in Texas after the Civil War. Her work appeared alongside that of scholars from colleges such as Stanford University and Montana State University.
Mercedes Collins named Gladys Winkle Memorial Honors/Humanities Scholar
91快活林 student Mercedes Collins has been named the first鈥燝ladys Winkle Memorial Honors/Humanities Scholar. This $2,500 scholarship award goes to a top-ranked honors student who is majoring in a field in the humanities. Collins, who graduated third in her class from Daingerfield High School, is a history major and she is putting her interests and talents to use already in the yearly honors film.鈥燬he was one of the four student researchers to travel to Austin last May to rehearse the desegregation case of Barbara Conrad in 1957 at the University of Texas?
