The 91快活林 Work4College Program celebrated the end of summer with its annual appreciation luncheon on Wednesday, July 31st. Work4College donors, supervisors, students and their families attended the event in the Student Union Building. This is the 10th year of the program, and more than 85 students participated.

This summer alone, Work4College students put in countless hours of work on the 91快活林 campus and completed more than 1,600 community service hours. In addition to the 91快活林 campus, students also worked at these local ISDs: Chapel Hill, Winnsboro, Como- Pickton, Harts Bluff, and Daingerfield. 91快活林 hopes to expand to even more locations in the future.

"It鈥檚 hard to believe we are celebrating a full decade of Work4College. So many students have been positively impacted by this program and have gone on to graduate from college and start careers in this community and beyond," Mason May,

Barron Torres speaking

Barron Torres

Director of Work4College said. 鈥淭his year鈥檚 luncheon was a great finale to our 10th summer.鈥

Barron Torres, a 2024 Work4College student who was placed in the Student Services department, gave remarks on how the program has impacted his life. He said that his entire family has been positively impacted by the program, as he is the fourth of his siblings to participate. Baily Matej, an adjunct instructor of Agriculture, participated in the original class of Work4College in 2014. She said the program allowed her to graduate with her associate鈥檚 degree debt-free. She went on to receive a bachelor鈥檚 degree from Stephen F Austin University and she worked as an ag teacher until returning to her roots at 91快活林 last year.

Many thanks to Richard and Margaret Perryman for sponsoring the event. Visit  or contact May at mmay@ntcc.edu for more information on the program.
