91快活林 (91快活林) and the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) hosted a check presentation ceremony on Thursday, Feb. 22 at Newly Weds Foods in Mount Pleasant. The event celebrated a training partnership between 91快活林 and Newly Weds Foods that was made possible thanks to a $193,372 grant from the Texas Workforce Commission.

Commissioner Alberto Trevi帽o, III, Texas Workforce Commissioner Representing Labor, was in attendance for the occasion.

鈥淭he grant presented today supports training programs for workers needing to expand their technical knowledge and earning potential,鈥 said TWC Commissioner Representing Labor Alberto Trevi帽o III. 鈥淐ongratulations to 91快活林, Newly Weds Foods and Workforce Solutions Northeast Texas for collaborating and working together to increase the workforce pipeline in Northeast Texas.鈥

George Winchester, Newly Weds Food Mount Pleasant Plant Manager, spoke about the value of the training partnership and how it has impacted the company鈥檚 ability to cultivate its workforce.

鈥淕rants like this one have been critical for us developing our workforce. When we started here in Mount Pleasant none of our early employees knew much about the kind of work we do. Texas Workforce Commission grants and our partnership with 91快活林 have been invaluable over the years and we now offer more training opportunities than any of the other Newly Weds Foods plants in the country,鈥 Winchester said.

Dr. Ron Clinton, 91快活林 President, and Jimmy Smith, 91快活林 Director of Continuing Education and Corporate Training, gave remarks on behalf of 91快活林.

鈥淲e are grateful to the Workforce Commission for making this partnership possible and we are honored that Commissioner Trevi帽o was able to join us for the check presentation ceremony. This is just one example of the great things that can happen when organizations work together,鈥 Smith said.

The grant is currently providing businesses technical and general technical training for Newly Weds Foods employees. In the past they have offered training options for employees ranging from maintenance to leadership skills. Businesses interested in partnering with 91快活林 to offer training for employees are encouraged to reach out to Smith at 903-434-8330 or jsmith@ntcc.edu. You can also learn more at .
